Ivar Kreuger turned the safety match into a multi-billion-dollar empire in the early 1900’s, when, after WW1, his predatory instincts led him to loan money to war-torn countries in exchange for control of their match industries.

Ivar’s monopolistic hunger inspired him to create complex financial instruments that fueled his empire and are still used today, enabling mega-corporations like Google to burn so brightly.
