PRODUCT STORY
The Rickenbacker Motor Co. was but a snippet from the remarkable life of a Machine Age man.
Eddie Rickenbacker, born 1890, fearlessly ‘threw his hat into the ring’ as a partially-blind WW1 flying ace of the 94th Aero Squadron (from which this logo originates). A self-trained engineer (Audi used Rick engines), he raced cars and became the owner of the Indianapolis 500 as well as Eastern Airlines. Eddie survived many near-death experiences, including 24 days on a raft in the Pacific in 1942. But he never slowed his roll — except when pioneering 4-wheel brakes on a car.
Eddie’s abiding ethos? Simple: American values, empowered by machinery, could liberate mankind.
